1. How It Started
A guy did not take a credit card for shopping. There was a wedding in his family, money was short. He borrowed money from friends to complete the wedding, thinking it would return soon. 3-4 years have passed, money never came back.
Friends started pressuring for money. His salary was already deducted for an old personal loan. Then he took his first credit card with limit Rs 60,000. Then Yes Bank Rs 32,000, HDFC Rs 60,000, RBL Rs 1.5 Lakh. Slowly total 16 credit cards.
2. How Cash Was Withdrawn? 2 Methods
You cannot withdraw full cash from ATM using credit card. There are 2 workarounds in market, both are misuse:
A) Offline - Petrol Pump / Merchant: Swipe card at shop, shopkeeper deducts 4-5% and gives remaining cash. Swipe Rs 50,000, get Rs 48,000. Not legal.
B) Online - CRED / PhonePe: Using Rent Payment / Tuition Fee option. Send money to any UPI ID, even if person is not a real tutor. He would send Rs 500 to his friend Harshit as rent, friend returned via UPI in 10 minutes. Charge ~3.5%.
3. The Biggest Loss - Maths of 5 Lakh Rotation
He was rotating Rs 5,00,000 every month to extend bill dates.
➡️ 5,00,000 x 3.5% = Rs 17,500 loss every month just in FEES
➡️ In 6 Months = Rs 1,05,000 loss
➡️ In 1 Year = Rs 2,10,000 loss
So Rs 5 lakh debt became Rs 6 lakh without buying anything. His full salary was going into paying fees. A list of bill dates was stuck on his wall. Missing one date = Rs 2000-4000 direct loss.
4. Where Is He Now?
Rs 5 Lakh / Month
16 Cards
Rs 22,000 / Month
6 Cards
After 4 years, after old personal loan ended and getting another loan from his department, he closed some cards. His on-time payment was 97%, so CIBIL was saved. He said, "Courage doesn't come, compulsion brings it. I started crying thinking about it."
