In the morning, thousands of students gathered under the "Coaching Janta Party" banner to march towards Parliament. During the march, Rapid Action Force RAF, part of CRPF, was deployed along with Delhi Police.
According to hospital sources, near Palika Bazaar in Connaught Place, a 25-year-old protester was shot by a RAF jawan in uniform using a pellet gun. On the same day, a video showed a woman being hit with a shock baton that delivers a mild electric shock. This is reportedly the first recorded case of shock baton use in Delhi.
By evening, the hospital count reached 83, including both civilians and police personnel. A 21-year-old girl remained in ICU in critical condition till the evening of July 22. A 15-year-old boy was also injured and admitted to a children's hospital.
When the video went viral on social media, Delhi Police DCP issued a statement saying "claims of pellet gun use on protesters are completely false and misleading" and urged people not to share unverified content. CRPF gave no direct response.
